Also, another indicator for me was your clue with regard to the capital of the country; Ciudad de Mexico is one of the most populous cities in the area. Excellent job!
I stated before that my guess was Mexico, but I would like to elaborate as to why I think this. Your pictures were great clues which helped me a lot. Also, being a social studies teacher, I was aware that Mexico was once a Spanish colony. I like your clue about the mariachi band. It made me smile thinking of one playing.
I agree with my classmates. I believe that Carlos' two classes are from Mexico. Since clue number 5 hasn't been discussed yet, I will explain what that clue has to do with Mexico.
There are two animals (the eagle and the snake) on the Mexican flag. I believe this coat of arms is used to bring attention to an ancient Aztec legend.

But then I considered your flag, your delicious tortillas, and the lake in the middle of your capital and am guessing that you are in Mexico.
I agree with the others. I just did a internet project with one of my classes on the Day of the dead. My students in my school are from Mexico. We are always sharing in the many things that Mexico has contributed to the world.

I guessed Mexico based on the "tortilla" and "tequila" hints. I then looked up the rest of the clues to see if it really was Mexico, and all clues matched.

- The Olympics were there in 1968.
- The "tortilla" is a traditional food in this country.
